WHAT ARE THE CLUB RULES? (Keep this section)
From the social point of view we expect members to behave in the spirit of friendliness in which the club was founded, and to avoid giving rise to confrontation and controversy. Legitimate disputes which might arise from time-to-time should be resolved in an open and non-aggressive manner. We encourage discussion at the AGM. Membership must be renewed each year in December, renewal is not automatic.
As for the flying rules, each has been formulated for one of the following reasons:
To protect the safety of people
To protect the safety of our models and equipment.
To protect the continued use of our field.
All members must read the BMFA manual and follow the recommended safety checks and flying recommendations. These rules are intended to enhance the BMFA recommendations, taking into account the particular geographic layout of the flying area and the pits, and the special needs of our club.
Safety of People
Don't switch on transmitters at your car - on the strip only
Don't run engines at your car - on the strip only
No flying close to, or over the pits
No landing close to the pits
Move off the strip after takeoff
If your model is in difficulty, call a warning loudly and in good time
When intending to land ensure that the strip is clear and call " landing" loudly and in good time
Never leave a model unattended with its engine running
Ensure that your model is secure, and throttle is low when starting the engine
Helicopters must not be flown near the strip when fixed wing models are flying
When you arrive at the strip it is your responsibility to check transmitter frequencies with everyone present
Safety of Models
No transmitter may be switched on without being absolutely certain that the TX operating frequency is clear. This is a most important point!
Always fly your frequency pennant on you transmitter aerial; and be absolutely certain that it matches your crystal frequency
Don't switch on your transmitter anywhere other than on the strip
Keep your transmitter aerial retracted unless taking off or flying
Left hand circuits are normally flown
Protecting the use of our field
Close all gates properly when you enter the field
Park sensibly and try not to spin your wheels or otherwise damage the field
Keep models well away from the farmhouse and the marina developement
Keep well clear of walkers and hikers wherever they are
Your model must not emit a noise greater than 85db at 7 meters
Do not leave litter at the field or under hedges. Take particular care to retrieve broken props.
No flying before 1.00 p.m. on Sunday, or after 5.00 p.m. on Tuesdays
Be sure to reconnect the electric fence when you leave
Close all gates properly when you leave
In Summary
We want to maintain a safe and happy club with a minimum of bureaucracy! ENJOY YOURSELF!
